Monimail planted 450 apple trees on a 5 acre plot in the parish of Monimail in North East Fife. KY15 7RJ, with more that 20 varieties (25% cookers, 50% juicers, 20% eaters and 5% cider).
Having planted +400 yards of mixed hedging, they want to encourage wild life (having resident barn owls and hares) and don’t use any herbicides, pesticides or artificial fertiliser.
They have had bottled and pasteurised their apple juice and sell it to independent retailers in Scotland and England. As the orchard matures they plan to produce more apple juice and make some cider too.
